Arkansas-headquartered transportation logistics company J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. has signed a deal for the purchase of biodiesel produced from algae oil using Chino, California’s SunEco Energy’s proprietary technology. The two companies have tested the biodiesel and found an 82% reduction in particulate emissions without a loss in power. SunEco’s proprietary technology utilizes naturally occurring algae strains in a monitored e nvironment to produce an oil product suitable for making renewable transportation fuels and other oil-based products, and, as a byproduct of the process, a high-quality animal feed supplement.
SunEco is currently raising additional funding to enable large scale deployment of the technology in the U.S. and international markets, including a large development in the Imperial Valley region of California. (Source: PR Newswire, July 29, 2009)
