San Francisco, California-headquartered Solazyme, Inc., a synthetic biology company that uses marine microbes to create clean and scalable renewable energy solutions, has closed a third round of funding with $57 million US, bringing total investment in the company to more than $76 million. New York-based Braemar Energy Ventures and Menlo Park-based Lightspeed Venture Partners led the latest round along with San Bruno-based VantagePoint Venture Partners, Berkeley-based Roda G roup, Harris & Harris Group Inc., and Solazyme Chairman Jerry Fiddler.
