The U.S. DOE plans to provide up to $52.5 million for Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) systems. The competitive funding opportunity will involve two areas: the research and development of concepts and components for a CSP system that enables a plant to produce low-cost electricity at least 18 hours of the day; and an evaluation of the feasibility and development of a prototype complete CSP system.

The DOE anticipates awarding funding to 13 pro jects. The deadline for proposals is October 15, 2008. (Source: U.S. DOE, July 14, 2009)
